Deaths by war, each spot represents 50.000 dead.
Above, 1945-1970. The Chinese revolutionary war, the Bangladesh war and the Biafra war have killed more than half a million each, civil wars in Central America, Colombia and Sudan somewhat less.
Below, 1975-2000. The Afghan war, the Iran-Iraq war and the civil wars in Sudan, Rwanda, Cambodia, Angola and Mozambique kill over half a million each, the civil wars in Guatemala/El Salvador and the occupation in East Timor somewhat less.
