Röda korset och NGO Liasion Committe diskuterar EU:s utvecklingspolitik
[!]doe1)Ñ'íThe Liaison Committee-Sweden and the Swedish Red Cross
invite you to an international
seminar on the theme:
From Words to Action - for a Fair and Sustainable
World
EU Development Policy and the Question of Coherence
Date: June 18
Place: Ersta Conference Center, in Stockholm
We are inviting NGOs around Europe to take part in a seminar in Stockholm to discuss the EU development
policy and the effects on the global South. The focus on the seminar is how the EU, in a more efficient and
coherent way, could contribute to the common goal of eliminating world
poverty and promoting democratic
governance. Too often we have seen the policies in different areas of the EU contradict its own development
goals. For the goals to be reached the EU policies have to become more
coherent.
The Swedish Government has decided to extend the agenda of its period as
President of the European Union to
include a high-level conference on this theme, called [!]Making Globalisation Work for the Poor - the European
Contribution[!] to be arranged in Kramfors, Sweden, 20-21 June, 2001. One aim of our seminar on the 18 th will
be to provide input to this conference, and we will send two delegates to
Kramfors to speak for the NGOs.
